Access Solutions for Highly Efficient HFC Networks
|
Harmonic enables cable operators to deliver more bandwidth to the home with a number of solutions for the HFC network, including segmentation, fiber-deep architectures and 1-GHz expansion. Harmonic’s digital return path systems increase network capacity, scalability, reach, reliability and manageability. Integral to network segmentation, the enhanced upstream capacity of the digital return transmitters and receivers supports the provisioning of more symmetric high-speed Internet access services and emerging two-way applications such as telephony, video conferencing, gaming and content-on-demand. Harmonic also offers a full range of nodes, transmitters and receivers for bandwidth extension to 1-GHz. The 1-Ghz nodes and transmitters add to the Harmonic line of products that today serve more than four million homes. As cable operators add new, more personalized and on-demand video services, as well as greater amounts of high-speed Internet and voice over IP, the ability to deliver more capacity to the home has become critical. The increase in bandwidth is also critical to operators who currently pursue Commercial Services. The new PWRLink™ 1 GHz broadcast transmitters, METROLink™ 1-GHz DWDM forward path transmitters for narrowcast applications and MAXLink™ 1-GHz receivers support transport of substantially more video content across the cable network.
CWDM-based 1310-nm forward path transmitters enhance cable operators' ability to deliver more bandwidth to the home. The new PWRLink transmitters make it possible to increase available bandwidth without adding new fiber by combining multiple wavelengths to deliver traffic to the node. Cable operators deploying these new transmitters can increase revenues by expanding capacity for value-added services, while minimizing capital expenditures. |
